During the middle of April, the Troop camped on/near the Appalachian Trail at Washington Monument State Park where we worked on the Trail Cooking requirements for Cooking MB for some of our older Scouts and the younger Scouts worked on finishing the cooking requirements for Camping MB.
We hiked the AT after visiting the renovated Washington Monument the park was named for (no, not the obelisk in DC), going three miles out heading north. We stopped and the Scouts broke out their lightweight trail stoves and made three different meals (one per Patrol). After clean up we hiked back to base camp and worked on Advancements before dinner and our campfire. There were a lot of tired Scouts and Scouters that night!
